Sander specializes in managerial advice for the conception, development, operation, and management of stadiums and arenas as well as advice on safety and security issues in relation to large venues. He has been involved in stadium advice and management assignments worldwide since he joined Amsterdam ArenA in 2002. His recent portfolio includes UEFA EURO 2012 stadiums in Poland and Ukraine.
Since early 2009, he has been involved, from initial concept until operation, in the conceptual planning of FIFA World Cup 2014 venues in Salvador and Natal. He participated in the development of the concept for the privately developed and recently opened Arena Porto Alegrense of Grêmio FC. Sander is responsible for general project-related actions at ArenA do Brasil, a Brazilian-based company in the ArenA Group.
Sander obtained Engineering degrees at the Delft University of Technology (1995) and the University of Hawaii (1998) and successfully completed a real estate program in Investment Analysis and Area Development at the University of Amsterdam (2007).
Before joining Amsterdam ArenA, Sander worked for RoyalHaskoningDHV as a consultant and project manager for several construction projects in Europe, Southeast Asia, and the United States. Sander is an active member of ESSMA (European Stadium and Safety Management Association) and is fluent in Dutch, German, English, French and Portuguese.
