Arena Das Dunasback to project overview
About this project
Arena das Dunas is a new stadium with a capacity of 45,000 seats, demountable to 32,000 seats. It is a multipurpose stadium built for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The stadium design by Populous is inspired by the sand dunes that dominate the city of Natal. Arena das Dunas will host four group matches during the World Cup 2014. Arena das Dunas is developed by our client OAS in a Public Private Partnership with the state of Rio Grande do Norte.
ServicesStadium development & Management
OAS Coesa Consórcio Arena Natal has appointed Arena do Brasil to advise them on the design of the stadium and set up the management and operational organization of Arena das Dunas Nova. The services we provided include preparing comprehensive guidance and a review of the planning documentation according to FIFA regulations as well as an analysis of possible improvements to make the stadium operations more efficient during the FIFA World Cup and afterwards, in its legacy mode. Currently there is no demand in Natal for a large football stadium. Therefore we have convinced our client to make part of the stadium demountable. We have initiated additional changes to the design of the venue so that it can host various types of usage after the 2014 World Cup. This will ensure future profitability, and intensify use and integration of the venue with local society. Our suggestions and related technical implications are integrated in the design of Arena das Dunas.
Via our business partner OAS Arenas it is anticipated that, for the years to come, we will be involved in the general management, match day organization, facility management and commercial activities of Arena das Dunas.
